I realised what it really mean to be grown up, matured into a young man when I watched the photo montage that Mrs Sim pieced together from photos took over the years. That cheery photo of me holding my two shoes up with a real smile brightening that young innocent face. I was 1.65m back then. Jianrui and Shao were with me in that picture too, and I really missed those days.

It was like me being a kid. We had genuine smiles.

I want that photo. It represented the kid in me, the part that remained the same throughout the years.

Mrs Sim, if you read this post, I want to tell you that I enjoy your sacarstic wit, and it was great to have you as an assembly teacher. (regardless of you calling me up to stand at the back for slouching.)

I am like totally amazed by my classmates. They, possibly have the thickest skin in the whole damn world. The thickest. I honestly don't know how I landed up in this class, I try my best to accept some people for who they are, but honestly, I've given up. It's as simple as that. Talking to them is like talking to a brick wall, explaining to them is like shouting into a cave, and talking to others about them is like recording your own voice, then playing it to yourself.

Backstabbing, slacking, quarreling, fighting. Wow, I realised that half the class can become gang members already. There's this scene(s) that replays in my mind day and again, how I quarreled with ahem, how I totally dao him, how I now despise the guy who gave me cookies on my birthday, and how I really really hate the guy who once did pw and a research paper with me. And I am equally amazed how fast I found friends that replaced them all.

But if that ahem was reading this, I would just like to say, stop staring at me in class, and talk to me if you want to. Is this that hard to do? All you got to do is say sorry.

But I must say, after experiencing pw with weekian and hweiee, I kinda appreciate your hard work at the start of last year's project (though you were MIA-ing in the middle and only appeared at the end).

Backstabbing. The only art that I haven't truly mastered. I am a master liar, a professional slacker (you will never realise), and a master manager of stress.

Did you ever realise that. Half of those I met in my entire life know me. As in me.

But I like it this way. Everytime I meet someone new, I can alter my personality according to circumstances, you will never come close to touching the real me. Only few do that.

What appears as trust in you, is only minimal. Don't you all get it? Pw, Ace, all those crap, I don't care, it doesn't matter to me. You want to make me go down, I'll do the job. You lose a partner. Wow. Amazing, you just realised that right? Well, you can smile smugly and dumbly in that seat of yours but know that you are just plain ignorant.

I very much prefer my own world, though I would like a few people to share it with.

Liars, cheaters, face your own negative karma. You have no friends, no life, no one to talk to.

I honestly don't know what I really want in life anymore. It seems like everytime I work hard, I strive to get it. I would like to taste the seetness of an A1 with some hard work, but somehow rather, it eludes me. Rather, it is Chinese, the freaking subject which I flunk repeatedly, then toss it aside, leaving it to rot, then rewards the most. I dunno whether you'll call me a genius, but I went into the test with half-baked studying of the 250 idioms, and received a glorious 26/30, a far cry from the B4s I've been getting continuously. Today was kinda good too, I got 22/30 for the free essay part. That gives me a grand total of 80% for that test.

But. IHC is like totally unrewarding. Once again, I only score relatively well (when pitted against my own standards) for source-based, which you can smoke through with bits of common sense. I got B3 today, with the class scoring magnificently with countless A1s. Yeah, three cheers for me.

Well it's kinda dumb, well, to study so damn hard, but to heck with the shit I'm facing and onward we go into Biology. I shall get that freaking A1. I can't stand it when Mrs Har tells me I'm not performing to my usual standards. C'mon, I don't even know my usual standards.

On a lighter note, I hope you have realised that the Sunday Times have been very beauty/looks-themed this week, especially when Sumiko Tan explores the unexplored territory of how men react to cleavage revelations and how girls become anorexic in Singapore.

My take, if you have good assets, dress to look better, not to kill any men on the street with nosebleed. If you think you are fat, live in cold countries where people wear so much winter clothes that it impossible to see their figures. However, if you are obese, I would suggest a good workout. Nothing like taking away that spare tyre.

Well, let's just say girls who are like that won't score with guys.

If you are obese, don't flaunt your curves.

But neither should you flaunt your thunder thighs if you are Victoria Beckham on a anorexic diet. Amazing, eh? I've never seen such slim legs before.

Cleavage flaunting can be a very tempting experience for men. Very tempting. But being the chaste man that I am, I will resist the charms of her front, with the vivid memories I have of Victoria's wonderful legs.

Yup, so take my word, beauty is in you, not on you. (Sorry Zhiyang, you can't count on this principle.)

Yeah, in case there were any clueless international readers who happened to stumble by this blog, today is national day, where we sing joyously in sync with Kit Chan's famous song "Home" and ignore her almost-impossible-to-memorise song this year. C'mon, the prerequisites of a good song for the nation is simple, yet impactful lyrics. Singing "The Big Ben, the Thames..." or whatever stuff doesn't really help boost the Singaporean spirit, but rather, a bit sore mentally from trying to recall the tune and its accompanying words.

I will just stand in front of the national flag stuck "ceremoniously" on the top of the wall in front of my table and sing "Majulah Singapura" patriotically.

Did you hear about the Chinese Malaysian who rapped the Malaysian national anthem and voiced his gripes about the Malaysian discrimination, and all his nitty gritty complaints. I kinda figured out that he would placed in jail, condemned nationally, and then but forgotten. All thanks to his amazing thickness in failing to realize that youtube is a really bad way to do politically incorrect stuff. In case you haven't notice, how many people just got sued or jailed this year for infringing copyrights, offending people and all those dumb stuff? Possible more than the number of your fingers and toes, and your friend's fingers and toes, and your friend's friend's fingers and toes put together.

So please, think not once, not twice but approximately 50 times before you offend your nation on youtube.

Yup, on the same note, I love Singapore too, so I shall not comment about how its education system totally rocks my world.

Yeah, I'm kinda dead now, cause I have an IHC test that day, and naturally, I'll not prepare for this phone interview in the evening. There goes my chance of (2 minutes of) fame again (possibly).

Nevertheless, I shall once again prove that I have oratorical prowess by doing impromptu interviews. I think I do better without preparation, treating that I passed my NRP interview without any inkling what was the project about, spoke during IHC lesson about gunboat diplomacy with little idea what it was, and did my english oral test without any information about what we were discussing during the in-conversation.

Okay, perhaps I do have a chance at fame.

Hey, this is my entry for the SGCool Blogging Competition, please vote for me!

You rarely see them nowadays, but back in the past, secret societies were the force back then. Protection money, gang fights, using violence to settle issues, these underground organizations were the bosses back in colonial Singapore. But how did they identify their "brothers" from the rival gangs?

Well, you see this amulet-like thing here? It kind of looks like those imperial stamps you see on those ancient Chinese empires drama tv shows, right? Well, the purpose is the same, the identify oneself as a member of a kongsi, or rather, the member of a Chinese secret society.

While the internal hierarchy and the membership status of underground organizations back in the 19th century of Singapore do remain hazy, you can picture the typical gang fight.

This artefact over here, recorded down by the National Heritage Board as "Membership Certificate of the Penang Ghee Hin Kongsi (William Stirling Collection)" was known to be from the early 20th century from Singapore, but a little trip to Google and Wikipedia reveals that the Ghee Hin Kongsi was actually formed in 1820, having its roots in both Malaya and Singapore.

The Ghee Hin was initially dominated by the Cantonese that arrived in colonial Singapore, but the Hakka soon formed the majority by 1860. Read this: they were notorious for rioting against Catholic Chinese in 1850, killing over 500 people. Plus they rioted against the post offices in 1876, against a new, and more expensive, monopoly on post and remittances.

It probably makes you feel better to know that they were finally suppressed from 1890s onwards by the colonial government, with their main lodging in Lavender Street torn down.

After all this kongsi has a name meaning the "rise of righteousness". Being involved in the Perak Civil War back in the 19th century kinda certifies them to certain extermination.

Don't you suddenly feel so safe in a nation where most secret societies are a thing of the past? After all, there are still the shadows of salakau (369) and Ang Soon Tong that are flitting around...

Went to bring some kiddy scouts from NYPS to go for a troop hike as part of my service to pass my Venture Standard, it was pretty fun and irritating, taking into consideration that you can laugh when they struggle up steps that were above their knees.

That guy slacking by the side of the summit rock is Shu Yang. There was this guy who kept screaming, somewhat a more dramatic Christopher from the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Midnight, and his precious knees were skinned by rocks when he fell, leading to cries that could be heard throughout the nature reserve. Such a beautiful kid, no wonder his father was so patient with him. I say, if it was me, I would probably try banging my head against some boulder and die of shame.

Yeah, although the hike was pretty slack (we took the supposedly most difficult route) I dare say that I will only feel any strain tomorrow. Nevertheless, I loved the view. Nature somewhat strikes a chord with my heart, but don't try throwing me into the jungles of Punggol Point in the middle of the night, the jungle is crap.

I love my hallucinations though. (Look at the sign)

I think I'm addicted to Red Bull. It gives me this imaginary high, and although it'll not last for long, it gives me the sweet taste of energy, and excites me on what I shall do with this new found vigor.

Saw Jesslyn on the bus today, the entire 66 was kinda spammed with SCGS girls. I think, if I heard correctly yesterday from liang, there was a test today. Kinda explains it. I had AMC too, and I kinda just smoked my weay through.

There was this question asking what is minimum number of numbers ranging from 1 to 2006 that if you just pick any two, the two would add up to be 2. Don't get it? Don't worry, I don't too. I just threw in 2 as the answer.

Oh well, it's just another dumb competition which I just bear through every year, hoping that in my thickness, I will get a distinction through pure dumb luck one of these years.

Yes, I hear you, Jesslyn. "We got fate." After spending six years in the same class, and seeing you everytime I step into SCGS (actually the rare twice), I would say, yah, that's fate. Perhaps if God would replicate this fate with my relationship with A1s, I wouldn't be so miserable.

Went to liang's choir performance last night. It was great. But perhaps a bit too novel for a choir performance.

And despite me hearing high pitches from anime music, I could not not grimace when the third solo singer reached the high notes.

Plus, I saw Jesslyn, Sarah (from 6-1'03) and also liang's boyfriend (I think).

Yup, pretty much all that I can say for last night's performance. I'm sorry, my mind is wasted away from the stupid research paper I'm mulling over.

I'm back from VLC. There was great food. But when great food is present in overly-huge amounts, it becomes gross food.

Imagine, 2 tauhu that has been immersed in gravy for at least 10 hours pushed unceremoniously into your mess tin. Just after you ladled 10 pieces of curry potato onto the mess tin to help clear some food. Disgusting, man. It's like eating cubes of stale banana.

There also the ACS scouts who immerse watermelon that has been in contact with curry into their syrup water, and telling me that it's nice. Yup. Have a great adventure in the toilet.

My Ex-Co (read, team) was pretty good. We had pretty much fun throughout the course, because the AC scouts (Henry and Kevin) and the SA scout (Nicholas) were great peeps. The girl scout from Aquila (Sue) was great too. And the Chai Chee Scout (Wilson) knows me as Labah-Labah man.

That's Spider Man in Malay, in you didn't catch that short sentence in the middle of the vid.

Yeah, pretty much just team-building games and lectures all the way. No flood drills nor fire drills. (Thank God)

We watched parts of NYP vid on Guo Dan's phone too. Shu Yang was being absolutely non-chalant about it and making crude remarks like "fondling and sucking her" during the vid. Another scout told me that he didn't expect HC scouts to be like that. I don't know what he expect HC scouts to be like. After all, we are scouts.

Yup. And I met Mr Fong on the way back. Cool.

I shall grab some rest now. It's been an eventful, non-torturous camp for once.

For what seems to the longest 2 working days of my life, I typed out two newspaper reports entailing the proceedings of the uber-boring and uber-heated discussions of the Functional Community. Perhaps because, Tee, Alfred, Dom and Liang Yang, and Remus (*pant*) were there, and thus it was much more fun to be in that room.

ASEAN, in a furious attempt to expel the likings of Myanmar, declared war on them.

I feel so glad for the sensitivity of the delegates.

On a lighter note, during the summit (which I was not around, slaving away doing my report-.-) the entire summit had gone bonkers and flirted with each other using note-passing (really hard way to get caught.) Yeah, and perhaps the press conference turned into a media frenzy, where the Vietnam and Malaysian delegates (sadly, both from beloved neighbour Nanyang) went up to catch some attention. There was particularly ugly girl that came up and giggled, causing me to nearly puke out the two packets of Justea that I had just drank. Yes, she is from Nanyang too.

I shall not say that the entire MAS was just like you know, crap. It taught me that people from the past who first voted for the consensus voting system were probably idiots, or slackers, who wanted to prolong issues. Yes. Perhaps a bit too strong, and they were all trying hard to make sure no one gets slighted, but cmon, look where you got us to now.

I realised, it has indeed been a long time since a last blogged. Perhaps it's because the only recurring theme in my life is all about school, and family. Apart from the usual stuff that revolves around me, namely teachers teaching badly and me cursing underneath my breath, there really isn't much to tell you.

Okay, I've thought of one. I've grown 1cm. I've thought of another one. I've grown 2.9kg (Huge jump, now I'm 62.9). Y

up, that's all about me that probably made me happy for a few seconds or so. There's the lord-I-want-to-rip-you-apart two chinese compositions and math assignments, so yeah, you can feel my love for school growing.

I know why I turn up for primary school reunions without a hint of nervousness or anything. Because, I can't possibly be more immature or look worse or you know, be more childish than in primary school.

But, but, the kind, innocent, good-natured little boy that once only had three activities in his life is gone.

I also can't figure out the fixation about my height. It would be logical to expect a growth spurt or something of that sort when you haven't seen me for two years and I never really grew much every year. Clara maybe 40 cm shorter than me , maybe, but it doesn't really change a thing about our personalities, right? Profile: Affectionately called by Konoka as "Set-chan", she is those kind of loner person who you know, stands far away and just observes your actions. She is a Shinmeiryuu Swordsmen hired to protect Konoka, who has more magical power than any magician, even Thousand Master. Yup, makes her big debut when she fights during the school trip. May be mistaken for a lesbian when Konoka kisses her to save her when making a pactio, but actually it's just a super sisterly bond forged when they were young.

Undaunted, she admitted to being over 600, to which Nagi concluded she was an old hag, much to her annoyance. He trapped her in a pit and cast a spell on her to remain in Mahora Academy since she would not leave him alone (she was quite shocked when she learned he was a dropout and knew a limited amount of spells). Eva can become a vampire on a full moon and attacks her fellow schoolmates, choosing when to make them vampires themselves and uses technology in the form of her partner Chachamaru. She has a grudge against Negi at first because of his father's unkept promise to come back for her, but soon begins to warm up to him. Another thing that grants Eva power is a blackout, though it's not fully explained why. She can't keep Asuna from breaking her barrier and gets kicked in the face quite often. It is assumed she is Negi's mother, but that dosen't quite link up somehow.

Such a baddie, but kinda cute as a kiddie. She has that typical bad streak in her, and I dunno, kinda becomes good when Negi defeats her by sneezing and releasing all her energy.

Hmmm no good girl award. I'll mull over it.

I've been watching hell lot of Mahou Sensei Negima these two weeks, and I'm left with episode 26 part 3, waiting for the youtube guy to send me. So now I shall be like you know giving a character review. Hehe, it's kinda of a waste if you don't know what I'm talking about. Never mind, I'll give episodes as examples.

Most Like-Me Award: Ayase-Yue

Nodoka's closest friend, or so it seems. Yue is one of the "Idiot Rangers" because of her hatred of studying which causes her to perform poorly in classwork, even though she's very intelligent. She always has a sour expression on her face, suggesting her life is fairly dull. She is the leader of the Baka Rangers. Although she tries to help Nodoka, she also has feelings for him. Despite the fact she's 14, she's as short and young-looking a Negi.

I personally like that boring face of hers. I'm always trying to emulate that, hooping that teachers will noticed I just don't want to study (like Yue). She gets shit results too, although she's intelligent. (*hint hint, mum*) And she also hestitates to tell Negi her feelings, because she does not want to ruin her friendship with Nodoka. In the end she does tell, but you know, she did it due to Nodoka being irritatingly shy.

Most Like-able Award: Konoe Konoka

Konoka looks a bit like Mutsumi and behaves a bit like her in that she is friendly to a point where she is slightly flirty towards Negi. She is Asuna's roommate and best friend and always eager to cheer Asuna up or show how much their friendship means to her. Konoka is the grandaughter of the prinicpal and has vast magical energy within her, not knowing this until the Kyoto Arc where she discovers Negi is a mage. She thinks Negi is so cute she refers to him as Negi-kun. Konoka is very close to Setsuna, some suspect she might be romantically interested in her childhood friend and Negi as well.

I love her character. It's those kind of character that you know, makes you feel good and all. Those kind always cheery. Heh.

Yup. Can see right. Such a nice girl.

God-if-only-she-existed-and-liked-me-and-I-liked-her Award: Miyazaki Nodoka

Nodoka looks like the older version of Shinobou with purple hair that normaly hides her eyes and is friends with Yue and Haruna. She use to be afraid of all men until Negi saved her, now her heart seems to thump wildly in her chest. The poor thing is so timid she normally doesn't speak her mind unlike Shinobou and is called "Bookstore girl" because she spends so much time in the librairy. She is easily flustered like Negi and seems the perfect challenge for her matchmaker friend Haruna. In both the anime and manga as Negi's Pactio partner has a book that reveals all to her.

Piang, eh. Hard to get this kind of girl lah. Extinct. Loves you like nuts, but won't admit, cause just too shy. Kao. Like me like that.

Best episode to describe Nodoka. Damn.

My dad just had a 20 minute eye operation today. He told me it was pretty scary, with the sterile environment and all freaking him out, and that the comatose patients he saw were really freakish and all, but my mum told me he was still joking with the nurse and all when he came out on a stretcher from the operating table.

Nurse: What do you want to eat?
Dad: Caviar.
Nurse: Curry?
Dad: No. Caviar.

My mum knew he was alright in that instance.

He's seriously a joker lah. My mom has been telling him days before that he should not order roti prata, but he did order in the end. Thank God my mom stopped him in time.

Dad is now lying on bed, looking like PoTC's extras. Apparently, he's still pretty jovial as the effects of the local anaesthetic hadn't worn off yet.

I am like super bui song. The SLC gang is like out there having fun, and I'm once again, banished to my house to attend a family function. For once, just for once, why can't they let go of me.

I had to keep my word and come home by 5. I just had to. Or it'll be zero social activity next hols. Last time I tried to go out with Ruizhi and Liang, I told them I was going out with classmates. On second intergorration, I said Stanford course classmates. Yeah, you'll probably be thinking what a liar I am and all, but cmon, would they let me go if I didn't say until I was at the door and ready to go?

Nevertheless, I must say I had quite a good time at the short 2-3 hours at the Grand Finale. I was niao-ing Davin, getting pranked by the Pope, and you know, getting "complimented" about my height. I didn't talk to quite some people though. Probably too shy, I mean, there's gossip and all going into my ears and probably stayed there for quite some time. As much as I reassure myself that they're great people, there's like this snide comments like: "Hey she did _______, watch out, boy." Yeah. You get what I mean.

I broke off eye contact that was suppose to linger. I knew, there was like hell of opportunities to like improve relationships and all, but I just found it inappropraite to do it in front of everyone.

Sitting a table apart from two juniors of mine, whom I chanced upon while sitting alone in McDonald's, I suddenly how idyllic life was, back then in Sec 2. There was no such thing called MSG that rang a tone so similarly to the way I said the word "parents". It was a slack camp, I got naturally slack, and the result, a 1.83. Some may say "wow, 1.83", or some may even stupidly say "Cheh, only 1.83" (not realising that they are stupid"), I tell you, it wasn't funny. I got scolded, nagged at, thrown into a jailer with my two other near-perfect brothers, and wanting to find my own piece of haven where I can seek salvage.

We seek the best. As such, I will take nothing this year, but 1.00.

I believe, this 2.89 that will arrive to me sooner or later, is actually a wake-up call packaged up as an alarm-clock on a bomb. It goes boom. But, the stuff that comes out will be, no, must be good results.

I will leave Hwa Chong with the label of 1 point niler in my family. I will leave with nothing but A1s. I will make sure, I will never be silver next to my gold brothers.

I am reminded how cold and unfeeling the world is when ziran suddenly niaos/scares me whenever I meet him along the corridor (he fails miserably). It is a psychological, innate thing of primate humans to become the alpha male, or to take on the dominant role. So, I thank God I haven't brought myself down to that level. I wonder how Shaofei remains smart after mixing with him for 7 years.

God. We should have personal talking pets to interact with one another.

At least they are able to talk more eloquently in front of girls. I mean, girls that I like.

It's because of this kind of bas 3rd that we have to always wait for empty double seats to sit with our friend. Yesterday was Mothers' Day, I wish all your mamas out there all the best with your little buggers and big losers! Just joking. Anyway, we got a chocolate mousse cake. Fully chocolate mousse. (Eat your heart out, Liang Hwei xP) I tried to take a picture of it, but the camera on my n73 had shutter lag, yep, so you can exercise your vivid imagination and imagine the cake.

I just went to gym. Bit exhausted, cos it's been three weeks since I last dragged myself in. The gym-ming was kinda invigorasting at the start, but it soon become kinda tiring. Anyway, I realise that actually I can be kinda fit, as in with my leg length and all, I just need to pump up the upper body training and do running, and wow, I'll be Spiderman when he wakes up the morning after getting bitten by the spider.
Anyway, I really really need to zeng (or enhance, in need for speed underground 2 terms) my chest, cause its just flat. I look at nice chest muscles like my brother and I think, hey, I can be there to, but it took three years to reach that standard. Demoralizing, right? I'll show you a picture of his body.

Gah, I'll reach it one day. Perhaps in 10 years' time? I'm not sure, but one thing I'm sure of. It wouldn't kill me if I don't achieve it.

Okay, I've just been to watch Spiderman 3. I always figured that the three would revolve around the three friends, and I don't know how the story would develop now that Harry Osbourne is gone. Anyway, I was middle-finger-second-toerish pissed off as the whole cinema were filled with families and their little kids, celebrating mothers' day.

As usual, you can guess the problem. Little kids screaming in laughter, screeching in fear and made me feel like depriving them of their Fathers' and Mothers' Day by taking a walk like Sandman. I hate those little buggers. They are like little flies and those flying ants that swarm the lights when the weather becomes cooling. I feel like squashing them, just squish, squish, squish. And I can watch how Spidey pwns Venom's ass in peace. I hate their parents too. They can yawn those loud yawns and groan at the part where everybody is supposed to keep quiet and watch how Parker, MJ and Harry rest after the episode.

Nope, they must ruin the scene.

Second toe. Seriously, they are all second toes.

Uncivilized buggers, laughing at the start when Francis and the frogs from "Meet the Robinsons" tell them to shut their traps in cheer, but not understanding that it was not a joke at all. It was really to tell them to shut up. I am super pissed. If those families want to guffaw, screech and yawn loudly, shut yourself in your hermit, and open your shell two years later to watch the tv premiere on Channel 5. That way, my, no, others' 9 bucks won't go to waste.

1. Middle Finger
Definition: Saying it means you are unhappy with a particular somebody, something or situation, or expressing happiness when you are sabotaging or backstabbing someone. Often used to save the effort of pointing a middle finger and the person ignores you.

2. Second Toe

I'm back from camp. Yes, camp. It was a slack camp, about half of the camp was spent on the buses and the first night on the train, there were lots of bonding through the card games and the emo-chatting. I would really like to thank Alin, the whitewater rafting guide, who saved my frigging ass and four others, caused by the many times we got stuck on the rocks by ziran.

I must emphasize on my lack of courage to buy back some nice street wear with the knowledge of two parents who would scream at me for spending the "food+drinks" money. In the end, my dad said I could buy, but my mum told me in a nice tone that I was very lucky not to buy the RM10 fake billabong caps and the tees.

The first day was kinda off to a bad start, taking that I suffered to long scratches during the rockclimbing session. It was due to my violent yanking of my size 12 half foot out of the crevice twice, and I hardly need to point out that many people were freaked out over the rock-climbing after saying my wounds. But the reaching to the top was a very no-satisfaction process, as you hardly noticed you had reached the top when you actually did. Abseiling was kinda freaky, as the rock wall and my shoes had no friction, and being a novice almost sealed my fate for falling and smacking the wall hard. Chuan Yi, I mean Han Wen (snigger), falling into bunches of plants twice at the start, reassured me that I would suffer a violent death and be disfigured, but Thank God, I made it. Caving was really dirty and exciting at the same time. We had to slide on our asses down muddy dirt paths that were 200 m down to the bottom, and falling would emsure a crackced skull. And, and, there were bat shit everywhere. Middle finger.

Second day, we went rafting, and Ziran was like this large sack that we were heaving around as an obstacle. Alin kept having to yank us out of tight squeezes and at one point, we had to get out of the uhuru (the name of the raft) just to let him carry the raft over the rocks. I asked Alin if he hated us, or more specifically, the sack of potatoes, and he hestitated before smiling and saying no. I thank my quick reflexes for dodging the many branches who discriminate anyone above 1.75m.

Third day, we did water abseiling. I fell unceremoniously twice. Not once, twice. Crap man. Those bony twigs of legs + poor grip of the aqua socks got me smacking into the wall. Thank you, Lijie, for training me into a ninja-su and enabling me defend my face first, lest I become more disfigured. The second time I fell, I could already stand when not in my L-shaped posture.
We showered, played hell lots of card games, then went shopping in Ipoh town.

I swear to God. If my parents allowed me to buy stuff, the cashier would hate me for the amount I would have bought. The clothes were damn nice. I heard from Timothy that two of his friends got DKNY jackets for RM23 at the reject shop, and I swear, they were nice. Really, Really middle finger and second toe. We went to the pasar malam after that, where I bought a silicon casing for my phone, and wanted to get all the fakies that looked damn real. I swear, if Singapore had pasar malams like that, the police would have the most number of successful raids in the world. I also wanted to get slippers, but they didn't carry my size. So, yeah, call me a loser, I despise myself for only getting a silicon casing for RM7.

I shall not blog about the night-time chatting, cos it is a sensitive topic. Don't betray me, aphelion mates.

Anyway, the fouth day was total crap too. So I shall not post anything about it that would put the tour guides to shame.

By the way, Ziran owes Timothy RM80 in gambling debt. Timothy got 3 banducks (Ace + king) in a row in a one-on-one session with Ziran, betting RM5 each in the second session. The first sapped Ziran like crazy, so I shall not say anything to further depress Ziran.

Often, they will create fantasy worlds to substitute for the real one. Unlike schizoid personality disorder, avoidants yearn for social relations yet feel they are unable to obtain them. They are frequently depressed and have low self-confidence.

Obssessive-Compulsive P.D.
While Obsessive-Compulsive personality disorder (OCDP) sounds similar in name to obsessive-compulsive anxiety disorder, the two are markedly different disorders. People with obsessive-compulsive personality disorder are overly focused on orderliness and perfection. Their need to do everything "right" often interferes with their productivity. They tend to get caught up in the details and miss the bigger picture. They set unreasonably high standards for themselves and others, and tend to be very critical of others when they do not live up to these high standards. They avoid working in teams, believing others to be too careless or incompetent. They avoid making decisions because they fear making mistakes and are rarely generous with their time or money. They often have difficulty expressing emotion.

I honestly feel this survey is dumb, although some parts are true. Come off it, do I look introverted to you? And yes, I do hold long grudges, trust me.

"It was a pleasure getting to know Jie Yang and his writing during the two weeks of this course. Jie Yang contributed a great deal to the lively social atmosphere. While his responses to daily questions about reading comprehension and rhetorical strategy did show some improvement, I hope he will strive to continue learning from the successes and failures of the writers he read.

Jie Yang does a very good job of incorporating humour into this writing, and an equally good job controlling and manipulating the tone of his work. Both of these techniques are nearly impossible to teach, so I hope Jie Yang will work to cultivate them.

I think that Jie Yang 's next step as a writer should include a concerted effort to rid his writing of cliches, making careful choices about diction and focusing on clarity on a paragraph level. Should Jie Yang think carefully about the point of each paragraph he writes, he will be able to bring his analytical writing to stronger and more compelling conclusions. I admit, I've been kinda wary when it comes to blogging, the feeling of pouring out my thoughts is always different, and one example of why I should be afraid can be shown in today's Newpaper headlines.

Anyway, I noticed that our juniors has been digressing since our batch left the main leadership positions and the school events just aren't what they used to be, be it in terms of school spirit, atmosphere, etc. I simply cannot condone their failures in attaining the standards that we have left behind for them to reach. Let me provide some case studies.

Case Study 1: Aphelion Night

It ended so damn quick, I had barely warmed up to the atmosphere. The whole Sec 2 level plus 3 out of 4 of the Sec 1 classes didn't perform, and only 2 Sec 3 classes perform. What the hell is wrong? Even if they start singing "Man Jiang Hong" (Whole Valley Red) in a nationalistic and even cheena tone, I will also appreciate the effort (that few grams of it). It speaks volumes about their ability to balance their social lives and academics. The whole Sec 4 batch gave excellent performances (perhaps 4A looked a bit shabby on stage) but at least, at least, we came up with original performances.

We had to devise our own entertainment, like going for night tours and criticizing the OT for screwing up possibly the best event that Aphelion has, apart from SMOPS, which also failed this year, sadly.

Case Study 2: SMOPS' 07

Come off it, I don't challenge Miss Tong's words, but looking at the people, I can question them, and vehemently deny that they have done a good job. Yes, they have put in effort, but whether it was a success, we can continue to wonder. For me, I can say that the invilgilation and logs department are screw-ups.

The inter commitee bonds is so low, they don't even know how another commitee is helping them. Yang Yang can call me to tell about mistakes in the paper that I reported, the Logs need to wait for me to ask for every single thing before giving it to me, making me seem like a crochety naggy old man, and the Refreshments can forget about giving the Block I/Cs food on prep day. And I don't call walking around on actual day "faithful service".

I am still angry that Wee Kian was left out of higher leadership posts. Yes, he never held an I/C post nor Admin post before, but he rises to the occasion, and gets the job done well. He also holds 1 year worth of experience that you can only just think about, but never have.

Just go reflect, and give me something to be proud of the 8th Aphelion Council.

Case Study 3: Lack of good council intiatives.

This is one of the useless council iniatives to involve the student body.

The National Cheerleading Competition is back again, promising greater action and scale this year! A major event in the cheerleading calendar and supported by Singapore Sports Council for sports promotion, this is the 7th year Cheerobics is being held. Formerly organized by Nanyang Technological University Cultural Activities Club (NTU CAC), this is the first time Cheerobics is organized by the Cheerleading Association (Singapore).

Following the success of the open category held on March 24th, the secondary category heats will be held on 24th June, with the top three teams going on to compete for the top three positions at the National Indoor Stadium in conjunction with the Singapore Youth Festivals Celebrations on 29th June.

This year, besides the usual team category, secondary school cheerleading team can also take part in brand new group category. The group category consists of 3 – 5 members performing a 45 seconds – 1 minute stunts-only routine.

The QS is the most mysterious "type" of all, because they can be in any clique, or no clique at all. They could hang on the sidelines of the jock crew, the geeky crew, or the goths, or the emo kids... or maybe they hang with the hip hop crew, but are more into R&B. Or they just hang in the library, reading during lunch. As such, you have to kind of actively scour the QS hotspots to "capture" one, and you'll almost definitely have to initiate the first conversation. Try:
- The quiet table in the cafeteria
- Parties -- look for the wallflower that looks about ready to leave
- The A.V. club, choir, or band
- The computer room
- Libraries, bookstores, coffee shops
- Video stores on Friday or Saturday evenings (the QS often rents alone)
- The park on a sunny Saturday

The Daryl Incident
He definitely has some mood swing problems, not to mention that this is coupled with difficulties in understanding and not bothering to clarify, nor listen on. This makes my life extremely difficult, since I hate to mince my words, yet neither can I bring myself to tell him in the face he's being stupid when it comes to insignificant issues. This causes me to have extremely bad expression, and thus, I hate confronting people. It's just this fact that I tend to be sarcastic like 90% of the time when I get the inspiration to niao people around me. Sadly, he likes to cut me off before I state my point, while I listen intently to his point before telling him where his logic is flawed. It kinda makes him think he's right, or at least more logical than me, and thus I listen to him and don't interrupt him. I'm sorry, my dear. It's because I have manners, and I subconsciously like to point out errors in the other party's argument.
So please, listen to me. You may say that coming at 6.40a.m. is no biggy for you, and 6.50 may disrupt the briefing by OT, but the thing is, AOS has no issue about it, we take like 2 mins to hand out nametags and mark attendance, and the briefing at the most, takes 5-7 mins. We are scheduled to check the classrooms at 7. So it's perfect.

You don't listen to my point of view, so you are angry at me for always appearing to turn down your views and only asserting my point without any reason.

I am angry because of that. Not because of your difficulty at understanding me (It's partially my fault too), nor because you want to come at 6.40, which is pretty early for a sleep-deprived boy.

Please, I am not high-and-mighty, nor am I despising any other peeps. I embrace criticsm, be it to me or from me, and I love to come up with smart humour, not crude humour.

So, I suppose those who are angry with me should send me a mail or chat with me if you still remain heated up after reading this.

I dare say nothing hits me hard like the ecstasy of getting my hands on money. Cold hard cash, to be exact. I got my Edusave award today, and the 2544 bucks that came in the form of cheque (aww, so disappointing), set me off on a happy mood for the rest of the day.

Plus, Plus, I am getting a new handphone this sunday! Woohoohooooo~! Can you believe it? After three years of topping up this hi-card and after 4 2nd hand phones, I am going to place my hands on a new phone. My dad has to rate it, though, as in cost and the plus plus, but who cares? It is a new phone.

Although 10 people failed their IHC test (out of 34), I am quite certain I can at least scrape a pass. I did my best at least. There's chemistry tomorrow, but thanks to Mrs Seck's excellent and meticulous teaching, I can just study and look through the main points, instead of memorizing like crazy.
